Week 3

Graphical Representation

When I decided on how to create my graphical representation of this three concepts, I was not quite sure how to do.  I decide to create a infographic through Piktochart.  Each picture represents what I feel are the key components of the each concept for this week. Each of these concepts are connected through the idea of expanding your knowledge through the use of making connections, collaborations, and the use of technology at our disposal.

I selected the image for Communities of Practice (CoP), because when looking at the definition of CoP the image is perfect.  The concept behind CoP's is when a group comes together with the same goals and works to reach these goals.  According to Wenger, learning is central to humans, and learning takes place in a social environment.  From these interactions, a person will develop his/her own identity within the group.  These interactions will lead to greater learning and understand.

For Connectivism, I showed both the use of modern technology as well as the use of the Old School paper and pencil technology.  Connectivism is the concept of using technology or the Internet to share information and to expand knowledge.  Another key aspect of Connectivism is the reciprocation of information.  Learners need to share information in order for the learning circle to be complete.

Finally, Professional Learning Network, have developed through the concept of Connectivism, and further develop of social media.  Through PLS's, which are informal groups that individual with common interests join to share information, a person learning circle grows, and the ability to share new ideas becomes greater.  PLN's are develop through a variety of social media sites or LMS that offers a message board.
