Twitter

The two pictures attached are of my tweet deck with the 5 hashtags I follow.  The first hashtag is a football coaching hashtag  I follow for coaching tips, conversations, and other communications with coaches.  The other four are education specific.  Each of the hashtags are specific to an interest I have and are relevant to my classroom.  If you are not an offensive line coach the items I learned with the first hashtag would probably have no relevance to you so I will focus my learning on the other four.  The #PBL is helping to gear my classes to becoming more project oriented.   From this hashtag I have gained a lot of learning about what a true project based class is as well as ideas that others are using in their classrooms.  The #GoogleEdu is a tag i follow to get a quick idea on how to be more effective using Google products in my classroom or quick tips on using Google Classroom.  As for all four of the education hashtag I follow, I am learning what people are implementing in their classroom, as well as various types or techniques.
As for on demand PD, I would say no.  I feel that Twitter is a great resource to start somewhere, to spark a conversation with others on ideas.  I just do not know how effective Twitter or any other social media would be for professional development.  I think there are other types of media that would be more effective, such as a video conference or web conference.
